SWANTON
FARMER'S MARKET ORGANIZATION

The
purpose of the market is to promote the sale of locally produced
or grown items and to encourage people to “DISCOVER” the
central Swanton business area.
|

SWANTON
FARMER’S MARKET COMMITTEE
|
1. The
Swanton Farmer’s Market committee is a volunteer, unpaid organization.
The committee will serve as a resource for the LEADER in the operation
of the market. The committee shall be responsible for market fees.
Market fees shall be turned over to the President of the Swanton
Chamber of Commerce.

2. The
committee shall meet as is required.
|
3. The
committee shall make SEASON PASS and DAILY applications and a copy
of the market RULES AND REGULATIONS available at the Village of Swanton
municipal office or the Chamber of Commerce office.
|
4. The
committee shall receive vendor SEASON PASS and DAILY applications.
Each application shall be reviewed by the LEADER. The LEADER shall
communicate with the vendor to confirm an application’s acceptance
or rejection. The LEADER shall explain to the vendor the reason for
rejection. The vendor may resubmit their application after resolving
the disputed items.

RESPONSIBILITIES
|
1. A “MARKET
LEADER” shall be selected who will direct vendors to their assigned
stall, keep orderly conduct, answer questions and resolve situations
that arise from vendors or patrons. The LEADER shall use the services
of the Swanton Police or Swanton Fire Department, if required.
|
2. The “MARKET
LEADER” shall be present on all market days. The leader shall
arrive 45 minutes prior to the opening of the market.
|
3. The “MARKET
LEADER position is unpaid.
|
4. The
committee shall be responsible for verifying the location of items
sold at the market.
|
5. The
MARKET LEADER shall have on hand a copy of the “RULES AND REGULATIONS”.
This is to insure that the LEADER can confirm the RULES to vendors.
|
6. The
MARKET LEADER shall issue written reprimands to vendors who violate
the market rules. No action shall be required for the first reprimand.
|
7. Issuance
of a second reprimand shall be cause to prevent the vendor from selling
at the next market day.
|
8. Issuance
of a third reprimand shall be cause to bar the vendor for the balance
of the season.
