SWANTON FARMER'S MARKET
RULES AND REGULATIONS

LOCATION

1. The SWANTON FARMER’S MARKET is located on the south side of Broadway Street, east of Main Street and east of the Chamber of Commerce building in the paved parking lot.
2. Parking for patrons is located on the north side of Broadway Street, east of Main Street in the gravel lot across from the market.
3. Vendors may unload their vehicles in the paved lot, but must park elsewhere.

MARKET DATES, FEES AND APPLICATIONS

1. The Swanton Farmer’s Market will open on Saturday, June 4, 2011. The market will run for 17 weeks, ending on September 24, 2011. The market hours are from 9:00 AM to noon. The market will be open to vendors starting at 8:00 AM.
2. A vendor’s DAILY or SEASON PASS APPLICATION may be obtained from the Village Municipal Building during the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or the Chamber of Commerce office. The pass is to be completed and returned to the Chamber of Commerce or the Village municipal building. The pass will be date stamped upon return. Preferences will be given to the earliest dated application.
3. The SEASON PASS fee is $100.00 for each site. This fee is payable with the application. Make the check payable to the Swanton Chamber of Commerce.
4. The DAILY PASS fee is $10.00 for each site per day. This fee is payable with the application. Make the check payable to the Swanton Chamber of Commerce. See the DAILY PASS application for date and documentation.
5. The SWANTON FARMER’S MARKET RULES AND REGULATIONS shall be available from the Village municipal building or the Chamber of Commerce office.
6. The market authority is the SWANTON FARMER’S MARKET committee.
7. Law enforcement is provided by the Swanton Village Police Department. Phone number is 419-826-4696. For emergencies call 911.

MARKET DAY PROCEDURES

1. The SEASON PASS vendor will be assigned a space in the paved area. The space allocation will be marked on the SEASON PASS and a copy returned to the vendor.
2. The DAILY PASS vendor’s space will be assigned by the MARKET LEADER on market day.
3. On market day, SEASON PASS vendor’s space will be reserved until 8:30 AM. After 8:30 AM the space will be assigned to the next vendor.

VENDOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Vendors shall be responsible for obtaining the proper permits and licenses to sell their products.
2. Vendors shall provide their own tables, sun shades, chairs and bags. The MARKET COMMITTEE is not responsible for providing any of these items for the vendor.
3. Produce items to be sold at the market must be grown by the vendor. Produce cannot be purchased and resold.
4. Craft items to be sold at the market must be assembled in the vendor’s home or local establishment. Craft items cannot be purchased as assembled, and resold.
5. Baked goods must be baked at the vendor’s home or local establishment. All ingredients must be listed on a label with the vendor’s name and phone number.
6. Canned goods must be canned at the vendor’s home or local establishment. All ingredients must be listed on a label with the vendor’s name and phone number.
7. Food items cannot be consumed at the vendor’s space. Picnic tables may be provided off-site.

8. Portable electric generators are not permitted.

9. Open fires are not permitted.

10. Cash or credit card sale security is the responsibility of the vendor. No one on the committee has change or cash available for the vendors.

11. Edible item storage, heating or cooling, is the responsibility of the vendor.

12. Sales taxes, as applicable, are the responsibility of the vendor.

13. No hawking shall be permitted.

14. Each vendor is responsible in staffing their site. If the vendor requires a break, it is the responsibility of the vendor to cover their site with their associate.

15. All produce must be displayed on a table or in a box. No produce can touch the ground. This is a Health Department rule.

MARKET CONVENIENCES

1. 110 volt electric service will be available.

2. Potable water is not available.

3. Sanitary sewer service is not available.

4. Restrooms or portable toilets are not available.

MARKET LIABILITIES

1. The Village of Swanton, the governing officials, Village employees and Swanton Farmer’s Market committee members assume no liability for personal injury, property damage or other presumed injury to vendors or patrons.
